Basic Tactical Medicine (TacMed) is a beginner-level course that includes an overview of tactical emergency combat care, environmental hazards and treatment, bleeding control, and wound dressing. During this 4-hour course, students will receive instruction and demonstration on each course topic and then be expected to perform the task under varying levels of stress. Portions of this training include physically demanding and emotionally challenging scenarios. No previous training or experience is required.
At the end of this course, students will have a thorough understanding of the following topics:
Proper selection and use of tourniquets
When and how to use compression bandages
Different wound packing techniques
